Last spring, I took on a new adventure - a two-week cycling trip through Morocco. With my trusty custom bike and a backpack full of supplies, I set off on a journey through the heart of North Africa.
I started my journey in Marrakech, where I spent the first day exploring the city's vibrant markets and bustling streets. The sights, sounds, and smells were overwhelming, but I loved every moment of it.
Leaving Marrakech, I headed south towards the Atlas Mountains. The ride was challenging, but the views of the snow-capped peaks and the red sand dunes were breathtaking. I spent the night in the town of Ouarzazate, where I enjoyed a traditional Moroccan dinner.
From Ouarzazate, I cycled towards the town of Tinghir, passing through the Draa Valley along the way. The valley is known for its beautiful palm groves and kasbahs, and it was a pleasure to cycle through the area. I spent the night in Tinghir, where I had a chance to rest and recharge for the next day's ride.
The ride from Tinghir to Merzouga was one of the most challenging of the trip, with steep climbs and strong headwinds. But the stunning desert landscapes made it all worthwhile. I arrived in Merzouga just in time to watch the sunset over the sand dunes.
Leaving Merzouga, I headed east towards Erfoud. The terrain was flat and featureless, but the vastness of the desert was awe-inspiring. I stopped in the town of Rissani for lunch, and had a chance to explore the local souk.
The ride from Erfoud to Tinejdad took me through a beautiful, winding valley with stunning rock formations. I stopped to take in the views and snap some photos, before arriving in Tinejdad in the late afternoon.
On the way back to Ouarzazate, I took a detour to visit the Todra Gorge. The gorge is a popular destination for hikers and climbers, and it was a highlight of the trip. From there, it was a short ride back to Ouarzazate.
